Kenia Is Out The Building

Good Bye Reading 25 it has been a pleasure :* See you soon Mrs.Burrus, Have a wonderful summer !

Reading 25 Reflection

15 weeks ago I loved reading. I read for fun. I love to read novels but I hated to read text books. This was an issue because as a college student you have to read text books in order to be successful and efficient in your classes. Since I have been enrolled in Reading 25 I have improved in reading text books. I have learned different strategies and techniques to improve my reading abilities. For example, one of the strategies is talk to the text. I make notes as I read, so if I go back to the chapter later in the semester I still have my notes in case I forget anything. Reading 25 has been a great experience for me. the skills I have learned will forever benefit me in college and in life situations. I loved the group work and how Mrs.Burrus gives us alot of practice work. I am a visual learner so I also appreciated the over head when she explained the chapters. Overall I enjoyed the class and I would recommend future student to take the course and apply it to everyday life.

My Argument

In the state of California the statute of limitation on rape is six years if your eighteen and ten years if you are under the age eighteen when the crime is committed. Statue of limitations is when you have a time limit to get a conviction on your case. Even though there is not a limit to report your case, your attacker still will not be charged with rape on your behalf. For example, if your afraid of your attacker when you are raped but later on get the courage to report it after six years you can not go to trail or get a conviction on your case. Also, if a child is molested at the age of six and didn't understand that a crime was committed against them but realized it once they were an adult they can only report their rape, they can not put their rapist behind bars. It shouldn't be a statute of limitation on rape because there is not a limitation on the victims pain. They have to live with it forever so the victim should have forever to get a conviction.

The Bystander Effect

I have personally witness The Bystander Effect. One afternoon my mom and I we're in the nail shop. We noticed a group of children outside. Suddenly, to young girls started to brawl in the nail shops parking lot. Many kids we're cheering on the fight and some we're video taping it. It had to be atleast thirty people in the nail shop including the workers and no one intervened.

I believe that no one stepped up and broke up the fight mostly because it was a one on one fight. But, even in an one on one fight some one can still get seriously injured and instantly others can easily participate in the fight. Secondly, people felt that if they we're to get involved the mob of kids would respond in a disrespectful manner. Finally, they didnt want to risk there safety. Even though these we're good reasons to us to stay out of braking the fight up, Its still a result of the bystander effect. Honestly, if one person would if went outside I would of followed.

Self Regulatory Behavior's

The self regulatory behavior that challenged me the most during my first year of college was social enviornment. I was constantly on the phone. I always went out with my friends. I love to go shopping nd I would do all of things instead of making my homework a priority. My biggest distraction was my boyfriend. I would tell myself that I was going to study, but when he would come over I would do the complete opposite.

The way that I fixed my challenge with my social enviornment varied of a few things. First, I did my homework before I went out or I limited certain events so I could study. Secondly, I started to buy things that i only need. Finally, I made an agreement with my boyfriend that he can either help me study or come over only when I have free time.

My Reading History

I have always been an excellent reader. When I was in elementary school I loved reading time. I use to hope that the teacher would choose me to read a part of the story. As I entered middle school reading wasn't as fun as it use to be . I had lost the passion for reading. When I entered high school I began to write poetry so that forced me to read. When I started to read my own work it gave me the want to read other people's work . I started to read books for fun. I am now a college student and I read every chance I get.
